Renovations
Welcome to our renovations webpage!
This website will be updated regularly to inform staff and students on progress with the renovations to Department of Medicine, Level 4, Clinical Sciences Building (CSB). For further information please contact Natalie Burgess (9288 2578).
7 July Things are going well with the building works. We have a permanent squad on builders on site and steel frames and walls are now being erected. The next hurdle is identifying a contractor to undertake works to the windows in the area.

24 June Progress is coming along with our renovations. The asbestos removal is now complete and the builders have started to erect walls and structures. At present the timescale is now running about 2 weeks behind schedule. We will soon be looking at the furniture requirements for the new area.
19 June There will be further asbestos removal on Friday 19 June and Saturday 20 June so there will be no thoroughfare through Level 4, Clinical Sciences Building during this time. We hope to have access available on Monday 22 June.

12 June After careful and lengthy consultations with the Architects and Designers, we have agreed on a decoration and colour scheme for the new areas. We have tried to keep the colour chart as neutral and inoffensive as possible, so that staff and visitors can enjoy spending time in the newly renovated reception, staff rooms, waiting and meeting room areas. Please have a look at the website containing detailed plans for the colour and decorating scheme. The plans will also be displayed in the Lunch Room Area for staff to have a detailed inspection of the documents. 4 June Access to the Daly wing via the 4th floor CSB is now available. Please be mindful that this area is a building site and try and keep traffic to a minimum.

26 May 2009 Contractors are removing asbestos from the 4th floor Clinical Sciences building from Wednesday 27 May until further notice. Contractors will re-establish access after the all clear is given following monitoring. There will be no access to the Daly wing via the CSB or the CSB via the Daly wing during this period. Due to air monitoring after asbestos removal, there will be no access until next week. Signage and barriers will be in place. The lift entrance on the 4th floor will be sealed off. 12 May 2009 The relocation out of the 4th Floor, CSB is complete. Builders are on site and have commenced minor demolition and removal of rubbish. Major demolition works commenced on Wednesday 13 May and will last approximately 3 days. Carpet has been placed in the CSB lift for floor protection. This is a temporary measure while demolition work is undertaken. |

Access will be currently maintained to the 4th Floor of the Daly Wing via the Clinical Sciences Building (through the 4th Floor walkway). We will have to negotiate with Orthopaedics about possible alternative access through Level 3 walkway if this becomes unavailable. Pigeonholes and stationery have been relocated to the 4th Floor Daly Wing East. Stationery will be ordered as usual through Jasmina who is now located in Daly Wing East. The bag for soiled linen/gowns etc is now located on the third floor CSB lift foyer. The freezer alarm panel has been relocated to the 3rd Floor for the duration of the renovation. Information on the alarm and notifications mechanism for the freezers and instructions on how to respond in the case of an alarm being activated has been circulated. Staff on Level 3 in particular should note these instructions carefully. The instructions are also available here. |
