Welcome from our Head of Department - Associate Professor Harshal Nandurkar
The University of Melbourne Department of Medicine undertakes basic, clinical and applied research in a range of areas. The ultimate goal for our research is to improve the treatment of human disease. As a Clinical Department, we ensure our research is driven by clinically relevant questions and that it is designed to discover better therapies. To this end, all our work covers aspects of the basic mechanisms of biology and physiology, clinical and community-based epidemiology, and clinical trials of new therapies. The Department of Medicine has outstanding academic and professional staff, bringing a range of clinical, research, teaching and administrative skills.
Our affiliations
The primary affiliations of the Department of Medicine are with other departments of St Vincent's Health (Melbourne) , St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research and Palliative Care. We are also the administrative department for the CCRE (Centre for Clinical Research Excellence in Clinical Science in Diabetes).
Through research collaboration, co-supervision of research higher degree students, and honorary academic associations, the Department of Medicine has strong links with the organisations listed below.
