Profile
Dr Marno Ryan is an NHMRC Clinical Neil Hamilton Fairley Fellow. Marno underwent advanced training in Gastroenterology at St Vincent's Hospital before completing an MD thesis in the Department, investigating the relationship between the Metabolic Syndrome and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. She then spent two and a half years working with Professor Gerald Reaven's research group at Stanford University, California, investigating the role of insulin resistance in human disease, before returning to the Department in August 2007. She is conducting research on the topics of: the role of adipocytes in insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease risk; insulin resistance and abnormal lipid profiles in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis; and the role of a diet rich in n3 fatty acids in insulin resistance and liver disease.
