Profile
Dr Catherine Itsiopoulos was appointed as Research Fellow in the Department in 2007. Catherine is an experienced Accredited Practising Dietitian with more than 20 years of clinical, public health and academic experience and currently also holds the position of Registrar for Accreditation and Recognition at the Dietitians Association of Australia. Catherine coordinated courses within the Dietetics program and the Master of Public Health Program at Deakin University and has supervised many honours and masters projects in nutrition and public health. Catherine completed her PhD within this department in the area of i) nutritional management of diabetes and ii) diet and cardiovascular risk factors in Greek-born migrants. Catherine's research interests include diet, particularly the Mediterranean diet, in the management of chronic disease and prevention and management of obesity.
