The Department of Medicine undertakes research in pre-clinical, clinical and population science. The unifying theme of our research is Diabetes, focusing on metabolic medicine as it applies to renal and cardiovascular disease.
The ultimate goal for our research is to improve the treatment of human disease. The department has exciting graduate research training in the areas of Rheumatology, Haematology, Endocrinology, Clinical Neurosciences, Nephrology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Clinical Pharmacology and Cardiology. We produce outstanding research in basic science, clinical medicine and population health, through the strength of our relationship with St Vincent's Hospital.
We value our graduate research students and have an excellent supervisory and support program. We provide access to University, Faculty and Department Scholarships, Travel Grants, exciting Research Seminar series and social activities through our Student Society. The department is committed to providing high quality laboratory and computing facilities, as well as a range of specialized research equipment.
